Elephant Cookies (Tutorial)

It is time to make an elephant cookie.....the largest cookie in the Jungle Buddies series.

Use a large circle for the main face and then two large ovals for the ears.

The trunk doesn't have to be the "j" out of the awesome

Helvetica alphabet cutters

,

but it sure seemed like a perfect fit as I was getting ready to spell the word j-u-n-g-l-e. :)

A good substitute would be a smaller oval with half of it "spilling out" below the face.

Once the cookies are baked,

outline and flood

the ears in a soft gray

10-second glaze

.

After 30 minutes,

outline and flood

the round-ish face,

being sure to add the

two black pearls

for eyes while the glaze is wet.

Dry for another 30 minutes and then outline and flood the trunk

and add accent lines to the ears.

Wait approximately one hour, and use a cake tester to add some "bend wrinkles" to the trunk.

(Sorry.....I forgot to take a photo of that step. See the photo below for the lines on the trunk.)

After the cookies have dried overnight,

add cheek color with a cotton tipped swab and

pink pearl dust

,

and eyebrows and a mouth with a

black food color marker

.
