Silhouette Decorated Cookies (Tutorial)

My son works at a TV news station and I decided it would be fun to
make his coworkers some cookies.
Since most of the images that came to mind were pretty complicated,
I opted to go with doing mostly silhouette cookies.
They are fairly easy......and depending on which shapes you choose, they can be very recognizable.

The first suggestion would be to do an internet search on the topic you are about to "cookie".
Find fairly simple shapes that recipients will recognize.
Print out the images in black and white.

Before I had a KopyKake, I would freehand these images.
But now that I have a projector, it is easy to pop the graphics into the housing unit
and project the images onto the cookie.
I know there are better options now for projecting images onto the cookie.
KopyKake is HUGE, it takes up lots of room, and is pretty expensive,
so the other options might be more viable.

I chose to outline and flood these cookies with a white glaze base.
I let them dry for a few hours before I added the silhouettes.

When you are doing silhouettes, you'll need a nice crisp outline and then just fill it in.
Easy peasy...... love it!

Of course, adding additional extra details is always an option.....and
often makes the image more recognizable.

The nice thing about silhouettes is that you can do it all in ONE color glaze. :)
