To add texture to your glaze icing cookies you will need texture mats.
I used this floral texture sheet set for this project.
Generally these are for fondant, buttercream, or chocolate......but I've found they work with glaze too.
Patience is the key here.
And you have to find what works best for your particular kitchen/bakery conditions.
Start off by covering your cookies with glaze.
You can outline and flood the entire cookie or just a portion of it.
Now here's the tricky part.
You have to allow the glaze to dry considerably before applying the texture mat.
I found in general, that 1-1/2 hours worked best.
But the amount of dry time will depend on your conditions, thickness of glaze, size of cookie area, etc.
You will have to experiment with this to find out what works best for you.
Once the glaze has dried sufficiently, you lay the texture mat on top of the cookie and press firmly
in every area where you want an imprint.
If the glaze sticks at all......you'll need to let it dry more. Then repeat this step.
P.S. I had to go back and "re-texture" several of my cookies after they had more dry time
because the glaze was still too wet.
There are so many ways you can decorate these textured hearts.
Here are some examples.
Have fun and let your imagination go wild. :)
