Spring Flowers 2014 Cookie Collection

Spring is such a happy time of year!
I think part of it is because of all the beauty that pops up in the season.
And flowers are definitely a part of the pretty view.

Here's my attempt to recreate spring flowers in cookie form.
They make me happy, happy, happy. :)

Personal Side

Easter has come and gone.....
but our family is celebrating this coming Sunday....so I'm excited. :)

After having worked in the healthcare industry for 20+ years,
I don't require celebrating a holiday ON the holiday.
So I let my kids go to their in-laws/in-loves Sunday......
with the promise that I get them ALLLLL day this coming Sunday. :)

I did the final testing of my Edible Glaze Modeling Clay this week.
It turned out well.
And I got to decorate lots more cookies with the new molds I have.....
plus do some airbrushing.
I stink at airbrushing (I just can't get the hang of how the airbrush works....)
but the molds turned out fabulous.
I'm super excited at the potential of things to come in decorating cookies. :)

My daughter's wedding is just five weeks away......
the time has flown and it's almost here.
I guess I better get out and find a new dress to wear, huh?
;)

Next week I'm going to continue my experimenting with my new tools.
For now.....the plan is all things gold, purple, black and white.
We'll see.....

♥♥♥

Instagram photos for this week:

I love BRP Box.
Their new basket boxes are awesome!

Please tell me it's recognizable!
These were WAY HARDER than I ever thought they'd be......

Happy Saturday!

What a random mish-mash of shapes.....
but oh how yummy the house smells with those expresso chocolate ones. :)
Our family isn't celebrating Easter until next Sunday....
in-laws and in-loves tend to stretch everyone out too thin on holidays.
So we'll reserve next Sunday solely for us. :)

Happy Monday!

You've gotta have a few eggs with that bacon.

This week's cookies.....pink, silver, & black.

Daffodil Cookies (Tutorial)

I love daffodils.
I know, I know.....it seems I say this about so many different flowers.
So I guess I should just say.....I LOVE FLOWERS! :)

But really, there is something so very cheery and admirable about a daffodil.

To try to capture the dimension of the flower, I wanted to add a circle cookie in the center.
It was just the touch I was going for.

Someone gave me the flower cutter below.....and I don't know where it is available (sorry!)
but this daisy cutter or another flower cutter with pointed petals would work just as well.

Also, cut circle cookies that will fit nicely in the middle of the flower.
Before baking.....smoosh the circle down into the flower with your thumb
to give the center a hollowed-look.

Once it is baked, outline the flower shape with yellow 10-second glaze
Allow it to dry for a few minutes before flooding the circle and petals with yellow glaze.
Note: since you are not only flooding the base cookie, but also a cookie "from above",
you need the outline to be a bit more sturdy.

Give the flooded daffodil a good 30 minutes to dry.
Then add a squiggly outline to the diameter of the circle cookie as shown below.

Dry overnight.

To add a bit of "character" to the flower,
make a mixture of Americolor Egg Yellow gel + Lemon Yellow gel and randomly paint the flower.

To make the center look hollow,
brush some dry bronze luster dust within the squiggly outline of the circle cookie.

Is It Spring Yet? Cookies

A couple of weeks ago......I was dreaming about spring.

Even though I love winter.....
I'd been shivering cold for weeks.....
and thus I longed for some warmth and some beautiful spring sights.

So I decided to create spring in my house via cookies. haha

The day I was decorating these cookies......we had a 5" snowstorm.
The next day.....the temps got down well below zero.

So this was the perfect project to brighten up some long winter days.

Hopefully we'll be seeing the read deal......SOON!

Spring.....I Think I've Forgotten What it Is!

I'm just kidding.....of course I have not forgotten what spring is. But this dippin' back into winter is really fueling my spring fever.;) We got about 3-4 inches of snow yesterday. CRAZIE!!!!

Here's some flowers to brighten your day.

I attempted daffodils. They're not such a great attempt.....but I learned a few things for the next time.

And a very large coneflower that I pieced together.

I've got lots more SPRING and EASTER to show you this week.

Oh Happy Sunday!
