Personal Side

This was a fairly normal week for me.....yeah!
It seems like the last several week were filled with either holiday events or illness.
I'm finally getting back into a routine and it is nice.

I completed some Valentines cookies earlier this week and
 started some spring-related cookies yesterday.....
I'm having a blast trying some simpler techniques that are not my norm.
It is amazing that things can still look terrific with a lot less work. haha
I know it is sad that I have to "learn" this (again and again!).

I'm hoping to start offering some glaze decorating classes here locally (St. Louis, Missouri area).
I'd love your feedback.
When would be the best time for classes.....Saturdays, weeknights, weekdays?
I'm planning on 3 hour classes that offer either basic or advanced glaze techniques.
The theme will be centered around the current season, upcoming holiday, etc.
Let me know what you'd like to see.

Life is chuggin' along.....it amazing that the first month of 2016 is essentially gone.
I'm really seeking to be more intentional this year.....and find my niche in God's plan.
I guess we are all a work in process, right? :)

I'm loving where this is headed.....

Adding Rolkem Gold to embossed Valentines cookies....

This weekend I experimented with RolkemSilver dust and great molds from PartyTrainCakeSupplies.
The tall heart in front displays the KatySue Flemish texture mat.
And the turquoise heart in the back has edible clay molded with the KarenDavies Sequins mold.
And that silver...... love it!

Have a wonderful Tuesday.....

Throwing back to last year's Valentines Day cookies......

Gold Red Teal Valentines Cookie Collection

This set of Valentines cookies has quite the variety of textures.
It is always a pleasurable challenge to see how many textures I can achieve in one set of cookies. :)

Valentines Day is such a fun holiday because it is universal and is
spreading such a positive sentiment.

Sending love to all my readers.....

Gold Embossed Valentines Cookies (Tutorial)

One of the most sought after decorating products this last fall was Rolkem Gold dust.
It was selling out like hotcakes and very hard to obtain, but I final got a hold of some.
And it is mighty fine!
The gold sheen and coverage is beyond any other gold dust I've used.

It seemed like the perfect gold to use for Valentines Day cookies.
And since embossed cookies has become one of my favorites lately,
I decided to take the dust out for a spin.
It did not disappoint.

To make embossed cookie dough, you may need to freeze the dough on the texture mat or mold for 10-15 minutes so that it holds it shape better.
Once you place it on a pre-cut cookie, keep in mind that depending upon how thick the final cookie becomes will determine if oven time needs to be extended for complete baking.
Here are the molds I used below:

Once the cookies are baked and cooled, make a mixture of Rolkem Gold and vodka.
(You can substitute clear flavoring like lemon or almond for the vodka.)
Paint it over the embossed cookies for a gorgeous gold sheen.
With this set of cookies, I also tried using Red Rose dust and Blue Bell dust to add some additional color to the embossed cookies.
