Rustic Thanksgiving Pumpkin Decorated Cookies

I can never decorate too many pumpkin cookies during this season.
I love dreaming up as many designs and textures on cookies as possible.
This year was no exception.

We're getting our Thanksgiving "on" in a rustic pumpkin-kind-of-way.

Check out this Textured Pumpkin Decorated Cookie Tutorial for one of the techniques shown in some of the pumpkins above.

May your Thanksgiving be filled with lots of pumpkins!

Patriotic Stitched Star Decorated Cookies (Tutorial)

Patriotic stars are brought to life by layering cookies and adding stitches.

Cut two sizes of star cookies, a smaller one that can fit on top of a larger one.

Completely cover the smaller star with glaze (sides and all).
After the wet glaze has sat for about 5-10 min, use a spatula to carefully remove the star from the original parchment paper, and transfer to a clean piece of parchment paper.
This helps remove some of the excess glaze pooling around the cookie.
(see photos below)

Outline and flood the larger star with red or blue glaze.

After the two sizes of cookies have dried for about 1 hour,
use a cake tester and make "stitch holes" around the edges of both.

Use the matching color of glaze for each star, pipe stitches around the edges.

Allow the cookies to dry overnight.
"Glue" the small star onto the top of the large star with extra glaze.
