Apple Branch Decorated Cookies (Tutorial)

Since it is apple pickin' time, apple branch cookies seemed appropriate.

I used Creative Cookier's Nest-on-a-Branch cutter to create these cookies.

When the nest is turned upside-down, there is room to pipe some apples growing off the branch. :)

To give the apples a 3D look, I added balls of cookie dough to represent the apples.

(see photo below)

After the cookies have baked and cooled, outline and flood red glaze onto the round shapes.

 (see photo below)

Next, add brown glaze to form the large branch with twigs.

After 15 minutes of dry time, add some additional branch lines.

After an hour of dry time, use a toothpick or boo-boo stick to imprint branch lines.

Add leaves and stems to the apples.

Allow the cookies to dry overnight.

If desired, paint on darker and lighter brown food color shades to make the branches look more realistic.
