Emmy, my granddaughter, turned TWO!

Time is flying…..we notice it most when we watch these wee ones grow crazy fast!

I made gluten free and sugar free cookies for my sweet Emmy-Lou-Who. Despite the changes in the recipe, she loved them!

There’s nothing better than making cookies for the ones you love. Take the time. It is worth it!

Navy & Pink Birthday Decorated Cookie Collection

I wanted to make birthday cookies for a special friend who is sensitive to gluten. Instead of using my grain-free cookie recipe, I decided to try subbing gluten free flour blend for the regular all-purpose flour in the CookieCrazie Sugar Cookie recipe (cup for cup). The cookie dough turned very similar to my regular recipe and they baked up with sharp edges just like normal. YEAH!

This set included several new shapes and I enjoyed using the Sail Away Sprinkle Mix from Sweets & Treats as the color combo for the entire set.

Pedestal Birthday Cake Decorated Cookies (Tutorial)

I love pedestal cake cookies.....and I found a new favorite cutter to make some cute ones.

Outline and flood the cake portion of the cookie.

Allow the glaze to dry for at least 2 hours and then press this polka dot impression tool into the partially dried glaze.

Another impression design you could use for the cake is to press a scalloped edger into the partially dried glaze in a vertical pattern (see video). [I was unable to find a link to this particular edger, but you could use the edger in SugarBelle's Shapeshifter set.]

Outline and flood the top portion of the cookie (the bow/banner) in the glaze color of your choice.

Outline and flood the pedestal, including scalloped outlines to the rim of the widest part of the pedestal, leaving "see-through" holes. (see video)

Outline and flood a second layer over the banner portion of the top of the cookie. (see photo)

Add tiny lines to represent the poles holding up the banner, and an outline of the scallop on the pedestal to give it a more 3D look.
